This school year, both the 3rd Annual Westside Dinner and Auction in November 2015 and the 5th Annual Founder’s Dinner and Auction in February 2016 were a great success. A number of parents, alumni, and friends attended, supporting our parish through their kindness and generosity. Our students worked on both events. Students were in charge of procuring auction items, decorating, serving and making sure our guests had an enjoyable evening. Amber Gale, a senior from Wenatchee who graduated in fall of 2015, did a great job leading the Westside dinner. It was an amazing experience for our freshmen who helped for the first time, and especially Fr. Luke since this was his first fundraiser at St. Thomas More. Fundraisers like the Westside Dinner greatly contribute to maintaining our St. Thomas More Newman Center, allowing the students a welcoming community.
Our recent Founder’s dinner was one the most remarkable for the Newman Center with over 75 guests attending. It was led by Christopher Appel, a junior from Colfax, whose effort brought out an amazing evening. Fr. Luke was very glad that everyone had a wonderful time including the students. Money raised from the Founder’s Dinner is a major support for the John Henry Newman Internship program. Our “fund an item” this year was for FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students), whom we hope to invite next fall to St. Thomas More. We thank all who support us for their kindness and pray that you can continue supporting us for years to come.
Our Founder’s dinner is a huge source of financial support for our ministry at WSU, specifically our John Henry Newman Intern Program. We greatly appreciate all of your support through prayers and gifts.
